Why the thief doesn’t become the owner
Your property is owned through a trust, and the trust agreement is explicit: a transfer made without your permission does not carry beneficial ownership with it. The thief may hold the token, but that alone does not make them the owner of your property.
One honest nuance. The law that covers digital assets like these (UCC Article 12) gives certain protections to a later buyer who purchases in good faith with no idea the token was stolen. That means the outcome is not automatic in every case, and it means speed matters: the sooner the theft is on record, the harder it is for anyone to claim they bought innocently.
What to do, in order

Report it to law enforcement. A theft report creates the official record that supports any recovery.
Save everything. Screenshots, emails, anything showing the unauthorized transfer.

What we honestly cannot do
We cannot reverse an onchain transfer or pull the token back ourselves.
